Finally. Real Cross Country Weather
18/05/08 22:59
As the wind blew and the white caps over the bay
persisted our bayside cross country kids were treated
to their first real winter event.
With the temperature no more than 13 degrees and persistent rain falling, our numbers were looking a little dismal at 9.15am. However by 9.25am we had this mass arrival and the day was looking up from there on.
The first challenge of the day was to fit into the shelter as we were sharing it with a personal training
group and the quite peculiar Laughing Group. With the sound of 15 sweaty bodies practising their boxercise and our laughing group dancing around making ape like sounds and gestures Chris our course supervisor had to resort to the megaphone to explain the order of the day. As it was rather cold and the numbers down we decided to join age groups together and run just two races. This seemed to run smooth and it meant the children weren’t standing around in the cold as long as usual.
It was great to see many smiling faces out on the course, I’m not sure if it was the enjoyment of the running or the fun they had running through the many puddles and getting themselves thoroughly soaked and muddy. Well done to all the competitors and I hope you are looking forward to the BAYSIDE OPEN DAY next week at Bald Hill. Please check the details on this site.
